My love for Botswana and for organising events resulted in me dreaming up this race. Through my work volunteering with a charity I organise several annual sporting events to raise funds for own beneficiaries. The events include an annual urban obstacle course (400 participants), a combined half marathon, 10kms and 5kms event (total 2,000 participants), a triathlon (130 participants) and a free weekly, timed 5kms (over 900 registered runners). I have organised over 20 sporting events.
Sporting interests: I am keen but casual mountain biker and a reluctant 5 – 10kms runner.
Ultra Event Running Experience – a random 105kms one day ultra charity run on Sua Pan with 4 friends
I am a runner since I remember. But my passion for ultra distance started in Botswana. It’s not only the very special and beautiful environment what made me running long distances. The amazing local distance runner community made me love this sport and they are still my inspiration. Beside running i manage a creative media agency and a local events platform to promote art and culture, music and sport in Botswana.
Sporting interests: Long distance running doesn’t provides a lot of time for other sports. Rock climbing and wind surfing when ever their is an opportunity.
Ultra Event Running Experience – Every year the legendary Comrades in South Africa. Toughest challenge ever – Chairman’s Challenge. A 400 km run in 6 days to raise awareness for diabetes and cancer in Botswana.
I am the ambassador of the Salt Pans Ultra Marathon, located in Munich, Germany.
During my two years living and working in Botswana, I fell in love with this beautiful country, its people and its vast natural variety, especially the surrealistic salt pants. In this country I also rediscovered my love for running.
One of my first marathons was the Gaborone marathon. Ever since I completed several serious long-distance Trail Runs, amongst them the 80k Addo elephant trail, several 100+k Ultra Trails (Zugspitz Ultra, Orobie Ultra, Swiss trail, …) and last year my first 100 miler in the swiss Alps (Montreux Ultra trail).
I am very proud to represent the Salt Pans Ultra Marathon in Germany and looking forward for fantastic stories to be told from all the brave runners who participate in this top-notch Botswana ultra-distance race!
